Happy Saturday Birthday to Mrs. Bach.

There is no school on Monday.  Enjoy the long weekend!  Don’t forget to wear your PJs to school Tuesday!

Our Top 20 Quote of the day…We have lots of opportunities in school to develop the Star Quality of courage.  Maybe it takes courage to raise your hand in class to ask a question.  Maybe it takes courage to talk to a student you don’t know very well.  What is something that you’re experiencing in your life that requires you to be courageous?

Our Top 20 Quote of the day…One of the most important Star Qualities you can develop is courage.  Courage doesn’t mean that you’re never afraid.  In fact, it means you are afraid but act in spite of your fear.  That’s what makes you brave.  Who is someone that you think is courageous?  What did they do even though they were afraid?

Our Top 20 Quote of the day…One thing that gets in the way of persistence is DFLIs.  DFLIs stands for “Don’t Feel Like It.”  Sometimes there are things that we don’t feel like doing.  What’s a DFLI for you?  Maybe it’s homework.  But by doing your homework, you’re developing persistence.  You’re also developing responsibility.  So, by doing your homework, you’re developing two Star Qualities at the same time.

Our Top 20 Quote of the day…Some things come easy in our life; some things don’t.  Sometimes we need to keep trying in order to accomplish something or get better at it.  We need the Star Quality of persistence.  Persistence means sticking to something until we’re successful.  We need persistence in school.  Learning can be hard work.  Most of us don’t learn everything right away.  What is an area in your life where you need to be persistent?  What is something that doesn’t come easily?  Something you’ll need to stick with or practice again and again in order to accomplish?

Our Top 20 Quote of the day…Yesterday we talked about the Star Quality of being outgoing.  One way to be outgoing is to be interested in other people and their lives.  We can do this by asking people questions about themselves:  How was your game last night?  What did you do over the weekend?  Think of a way you can be outgoing today by asking someone a question about themselves.  By being outgoing others will want to be your friend.

Our Top 20 Quote of the day…Some Star Qualities are more personal.  Star Qualities like asking for help and organization are good for us.  Some Star Qualities are more social.  They help us develop great relationships.  Being outgoing is a social Star Quality.  Being outgoing doesn’t mean having to be with lots of people all the time.  It means trying to be friendly and sociable with everyone we see.  Just smiling or saying, “Hi, how are you?” can mean a lot to others.  Think of how you can practice being outgoing today in the hallway, during lunch or when someone walks into class.

Our Top 20 Quote of the day…Remember what you need to know is that the Top 20 is not an exclusive club or limited to a certain number of members.  It doesn’t mean that if someone becomes a Top 20 that someone who's already a Top 20 has to become a Bottom 80.  There’s room for everybody in the Top 20.

Thank you for joining us today and have a spicy day!
